Az utca Párizs 9. kerületében köti össze a Rue de Clichy-t a Place Blanche-sal, ahol a híres Moulin Rouge klub található. Nevét a belga fővárosról kapta a Franciaország és Belgium közti kapcsolatok ünneplésére.
A Rue de Bruxelles és a Rue Douai sarkán álló épület harmadik emeletén lakott Ivan Turgenyev orosz író, aki szerelmét, az énekes Pauline Viardot-t követte Párizsba. Turgenyev és Pauline családja együtt éltek, az író sajátjaként tekintett a Viardot-házaspár négy gyermekére.
Az utca úgy tűnik vonzotta az írókat, ugyanis itt élt és itt is halt meg a 21/B szám alatt Émile Zola 1902. szeptember 28-áról 29-ére virradó éjszaka.

Rue de Bruxelles

This street in Paris’s 9th arrondissement connects Rue de Clichy with Place Blanche, home to the iconic Moulin Rouge. It was named Rue de Bruxelles in celebration of the relationship between France and Belgium.

At the corner of Rue de Bruxelles and Rue de Douai stands a building where Russian writer Ivan Turgenev once lived on the third floor. He had followed his beloved, singer Pauline Viardot, to Paris. Turgenev lived with the Viardot family, and considered the couple’s four children as his own.

Writers seemed drawn to this street: Émile Zola also lived here, at number 21/B, and it was here that he died during the night of September 28–29, 1902.
